This memorial is dedicated to my ancestor Isabella/Isabel mac William.
She was the illegitimate daughter of William the Lion, King of Scotland and his mistress Isabel Avenal.
Isabel first married Robert III de Brus (died about 1191), the son of Robert II de Brus, 2nd Lord of Annandale
She married secondly Sir Robert de Ros.
They were the parents of
Sir William de Ros
Sir Robert de Ros.
Weis' Ancestral Roots . . ., 8th Edition, 89:28, 170:26, Isabella, the natural daughter of William the Lion by a daughter of Richard de Avenal, married Robert de Ros, the son of Everard de Ros and Rose Trussebut. They were the parents of Sir William de Ros and Sir Robert de Ros.
~Cockayne's Complete Peerage, (Ros), Vo. XI, p. 93, calls her the illigitimate daughter of King William the Lion. She was the widow of Robert de Brus (or Bruce), son of Robert II of Scotland, and married Sir Robert de Ros.
Not to be confused with her sister Isabella of Scotland
