Haldenby 8 quartered shield on wall of All Saints Church, Adlingfleet, East Yorkshire, England, Tudor period salvaged and placed inside the church during the 19th century.
Located above the Tomb of Francis Haldenby.

Top row from left, Haldenby, Gawtree, Usflete, Furnival.

Bottom row from left, Ferriby? (now thought to be the Wright family), Luddington, Ella, Wentworth.

Note: the Ella family quarter has a "dancetti" (dancetty, etc.), i.e., a dancing line (zigzaged) with three peaks/points. The bishop Corbridge has an "indented" line with more peaks and although the quarters are not painted, Corbridge and Ella have different tinctures, the Ella connection with Haldenby being via the Usflete family.

Crest: a crowned helmet with an erect arm coming out, the hand holding a cup/chalice. Family motto: "The Divine Toast". Later, Haldenby had a new crest granted of a black swan and shields only had 6 quarters on and the family motto was forbidden.

The shape of the base-shield on the wall and on the Tomb head-panel (not shown) is the broad-style late-14th to mid 15th century but because Wentworth are quartered on both of them, then indeed it was made in the Tudor period, yet in the earlier traditional style.

He lived next door to Jean Macer from the age of six to eleven during the war, he was an evacuee who came with his mother to live with their Aunt. After the War. They returned to Gosport. When he was about seventeen he sent me a photograph of himself recovering from TB.
Maybe the photograph is signed on the back?
