Notes |
- Margaret Sanderson told me that a family secret suggested Frederick Oates farthered an illegitimate child 'Arthur Oates' to his wife's step sister Annie Amelia Vernon Kelsey. And that Fred's wife Matilda Kelsey brought the choild up. I cannot find any official record or existence for such a person. However Annie did have a child called Annie, registered birth in Jun 1892 at Wath upon Dearne when at the time she was 'courting' an older man Thomas Coggan who she would later wed in 1895 and issue further children. Annie b. 1892 was living with Annie & Thomas Coggan in Wath upon Dearne in the 1901 census.
