William Dowson Haxey Stow wills 1728-31 321 written 12 Jul 1726 proved 2? Feb 1727

In the Name of God Amen I William Dowson of Haxey in the County of Lincoln yeoman, being Visited with Sickness, but of sound & perfect Memory praised be God for it, yet knowing the uncertainty of this Life, Do make & ordain this my last Will & Testament in Manner & form following First I recomend my Soul into ye Hands of Almighty God Hoping thro’ the meritorious Death & passion of Jesus Christ his only Son to Receive free pardon & forgiveness of all my Sins, And as for my Body I desire it may be decently Buried at ye Discretion of my Executrix hereafter mentioned, and as for my Temporal Estate which God hath intrusted me with, I Give & Devise the same as followeth.

First I Give & Bequeath unto Robert Dowson my eldest son the sum of Two Shillings & Six pence in Lion & full Satisfaction of his portion, Item I Give & Devise one Half Acre of Land Arrable lying in the Clay field against the Hill, The Land of Anthony Gibson South & Abutting against a Headland called Blacksmore headland on ye West And one Rood & half lying on ye Northside of Haxey, Abutting on the East Coney Garth on ye North , & the Land of Mr Jno. Eastland on ye East & Half an Acre Lying next the Kings Mill, Tho: Millhill being on the East & the Land of William Harrison on the West, to Anne Harrison my Daughter& to Robert her Husband dureing their two lives, and after their Decease to the use & Behoofe of all the Children of their two Bodies lawfully begotten & to be begotten to be eqully divided amongst them & to their Heirs & Assigns for ever, Item I Give one Acre of Land Lying near the Mill Hill late Mr. Vinct. Brownes, the Land of ye Church now in the Occupation of Tho: Jefferson Lying on the North & Abutting against a Headland of the Heirs of William Townsend on ye West, unto Elizabeth Lehie my Daughter & to Abraham her Husband for & during their two Lives and after their Decease, then to ye use & Behoofe of Sarah Lehie their Daughter to her & her Heirs & Assigns for ever, Item I Give one acre of Land Lying against the Hill near far Shepherd hill the Land of Tho: Robinson on the North & abutting on a Headland of Mrs Jane Farmery’s on ye West , & Half an Acre more Lying between Shepherd Hill the Land of Anthony Gibson on ye East & Abutting on Tho: Johnson Headland on ye South, unto Elizabeth Lehie & to Abraham her now Husband dureing their two Lives & after their Decease then to ye use & Behoofe of John Lehie & Jacob Lehie their two sons be equally divided betwixt them & to their Heirs and assigns for ever, Item I Give & Devise Half an Acre of Land lying on the northside of the Coneygarth, the Land of the Church now in ye Occupation of Wm Newborn on y Last, unto John Langton & Anne his wife, untill Esther Ingall my Grand Child attaine to One & Twenty years of age, upon this Condicon That he ye sd John Langton or Anne his wife bring up & Maintain ye sd Esther Ingall with sufficient Clothing Meat Drink Washing & Lodging till she the sd Esther attaine to fifteen years of age, and after ye said Term of years as above Mencon’d be expired, Then my Will is That the said Half Acre of Land Remain to ye use & behoof of the said Esther Ingall & Sarah Ingall my two Grand Children to be divided betwixt them & to their Heirs & Assignes for Ever, Item I Give unto William Ingall John Ingall & Hannah Ingall, my three Grand Children each of Them Four pounds to be paid within a year & a Half after my Decease, Item I Give unto Elizab. Lehie my Daughter the Sum of Twenty pounds, and to Mary Lehie & Hannah Lehie my two Grand Children each of them Ten pounds to be paid within a year & a half after my decease, And my will is, That my Executrix hereafter named Shall Take Reap & enjoy to her own use all the Crop now Growing upon all the said Lands within mention’d without any Molestation, Item all the Rest of my Goods and Chattles whatsoever (after my Debts & Legacies be paid, & Funeral Expences Dischar’d) I Give them unto Anne Harrison my daughter whom I Nominate Constitute Make & Appoint my whole & Sole Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand & Seal this Twelfth Day of July, in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred & Twenty Six.

In the name of God Amen the Eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Six hundred Ninety & One I Robert Brown of Haxey in the Isle of Axholme & County of Lincoln yeoman being sick in body but of good & perfect memory thanks be to Almighty God & calling to remebrance the .... estate of this transitory Life & that all ... ... yield unto Death whom it shall please God to call doo make constitute& ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner & forme following revoking anulling by these ..... all & every testament Will & Wills heretofore by me made or ..... either by word or writing & this to be taken onoly for my last Will & Testament and none other. And first I bequeath my Soul unto the hands of Almighty God my master hopeing through the meritorious Death & passion of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to ... ... pardon & forgiveness for all my sins and as for my body to be buried at the discretion of nt Executrix hereafter nominated And as for .... goods chattell & chattells as it hath pleased God far above my .... to bestow upon me I do give & dispose of in manner & form following
Item I give unto Mary Dowson my daughter my dwelling house & all my freehold land for and during her natural life & after her decease to the use & behoof of William her son ... my will and & pleasure is that the said dwelling house and freehold land shall be ... for six first years after my decease the rent ... thereby arising to be equally divided amongst my three granddaughters Mary Dowson, Anne Dowson & Elizabeth Dowson
Item I give unto William Dowson my grandchild one bedstead ... & gallon ... park & mangers and all things fixed as heir looms
Item all the rest of my goods chattel & chattels not yet disposed of I do ... give unto Mary Dowson, my daughter & do make her sole executrix of this my last will & testament in witness whereof I do hereunto set my hand & seal this the day & year above written
