Perteney Cross, also Parson's Cross, Parting Cross and Haxey Cross
Perteney Cross, also Parson's Cross, Parting Cross and Haxey Cross
From Rev W B Stonehouse History of Isle of Axholme published 1839

Erected by the Evers family on the spot where Thomas Mowbray, Duke of Norfolk parted from his Duchess on his being banished to Venice after his challenge to combat with Henry of Bolingbroke, 1st Duke of Hereford (later King Henry IV).

The cross does not now exist, probably destroyed during Vermuyden drainage in 1626. Its location may have been where the war memorial stands today
